OsteoGen® Strip
The OsteoGen® Bone Grafting Strip infuses bone graft into a collagen strip to eliminate the problems associated with particulate migration.
The OsteoGen® Strip infuses bioactive resorbable calcium apatite crystals into a bovine Achilles tendon collagen sheet, delivering the same graft chemistry as the OsteoGen Plug in a thin, flexible format suited to narrow socket openings. It controls particulate migration by filling the void space left after extraction while the collagen matrix limits connective tissue ingrowth for faster healing. The Strip is equally suited to sinus lifts and to grafting gaps between the implant and extraction socket wall.
- Flexible strips easily conform to the grafting site, eliminating gaps in bony walls
- Eliminates chance of particulate wash out; crystals are contained in the collagen
- Use around immediate implant placement to fill gaps between the implant & socket wall
- Use as a mineralized collagen cover to contain particulates in extraction sites
- Use for sinus lifts instead of particulates
- Easy and effective ridge expansion, can be curved over a narrow ridge for added width
- Can be folded or layered to created added volume and packed into defect space
- OsteoGen ® Strips have 4 Years of Shelf Life
- Extremely porous and hydrophilic
- Can be used as a mineralized scaffold for added growth factors or autologous serum
- Available in two sizes: Large – 20 mm x 40mm x 3mm and Small – 12mm x 20mm x 3mm
Handling and Placement
The Strip’s flexibility allows it to be folded into layers for packing defect spaces, molded to fit narrow ridges, or cut to size for precise placement. Use it to cover and contain particulate graft material and prevent washout.

OsteoGen® Plug FAQs
How is the OsteoGen® Strip different from the OsteoGen® Plug?
Same bioactive calcium apatite crystal and bovine collagen composition, delivered in a thin, flexible sheet rather than a cylindrical plug. The Strip format suits narrow socket openings, sinus lifts, and gap-filling around implants such as cases where a plug’s shape doesn’t conform well.
Can the Strip be used for ridge augmentation as well as socket preservation?
Yes. Its flexibility allows it to be folded, layered, or molded to fit narrow ridges, making it suitable for both extraction socket grafting and ridge augmentation cases.
How soon after placement can a dental implant be placed?
Sites are generally allowed to integrate for approximately 4 months before implant placement, though this can vary by patient and case.
What post-operative instructions should patients follow?
Patients should avoid alcohol, mouthwash, and chlorhexidine for two weeks, and avoid toothbrushing or waterpik use directly at the surgical site, to support healing.
Why should patients avoid chlorhexidine and mouthwash after the procedure?
These products have been shown to be toxic to fibroblasts and may delay healing and crestal bridging of soft tissue.
Does the Strip need to be hydrated before placement?
Can the Strip be cut to size?
Yes. It can be cut into smaller pieces for precise placement in irregular or confined defect sites.
Does the Strip require a membrane for coverage?
The Strip functions as both graft material and a barrier against particulate washout on its own. Whether an additional membrane (e.g., OsteoFlex) is indicated depends on defect morphology and case-specific GBR requirements. [Flag: confirm whether Impladent makes a specific claim here, or if this should stay case-dependent/non-committal.]
Is the collagen source the same as CollaForm and OsteoFlex?
Yes — bovine Achilles tendon collagen sourced from New Zealand, a BSE-free country.
